Group Mask Work

Today the senior drama students worked in groups of four to six, interacting within different given circumstances. Every group posed for a "happy family photo" as well as a "family photo (post-a family feud)." Each group also created their own fictitious scenario, played out via three-four tableau pictures. This post and the one below offer a glimpse into today's classes.

The Seniors Work with Mask and Gesture

The ten masks that you see in this and the following post were individually created by each of the senior students wearing them. Based on the exaggerated masks used in ancient Greece, and through the exploration of self and the "masks" we use in our daily lives (as well as the sides of ourselves we "mask" from the world), the photos shown here showcase students experimenting with gestures that support the emotions/attributes conceived in their masks.

Announcements

I just began posting a couple of series of links on the blog to help students, parents, and faculty "navigate" the theatre "scene."

One series is for Junior & Senior TPA students/Parents interested in looking at post-high school theatre programs. The other are Phoenix-area links - all different types of theatre (improv to Shakespeare) as well as a link to our very own TPA (in case you'd like to get there from here).

If you have any other ideas for information you would like to see posted on this blog, please send me an email and let me know. I'm happy to be of service.

Cheers,
Ms. Nicky Pitman
